Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Y our physical and mental health and the health of your close family members is paramount. If your employer terminated you because you took time off to address a health condition or to care for a family member, you may be entitled to vindication under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Likewise, if you’ve been working with your employer for more than one year, the FMLA may provide the right to take time off to deal with a medical condition. The FMLA also entitles employees to take time off for the birth or care of a child. Your employer may not prevent you from asserting your rights under the FMLA and may not terminate you for taking FMLA-protected leave.

The Family and Medical Leave Act is a complicated law. If you believe your rights have been violated, you need a strong advocate in your corner.
